Stock picks for next week

From a technical standpoint this is still a good time to buy AAPL in short-term as %K line has just crossed on top over %D line. Nevertheless the short term trend is still weak as the stock has been trading below 50 day and 20 day MA with 50 day MA now going downward showing bearish signal. Immediate resistance is at 242.61 (yesterday’s high). A break above that area could trigger further upside recovery testing 252.18. Watch AAPL on Monday.

The short-term outlook for CIEN is bullish. Fresh long should be made only when the stock closes above $13.07 ( 50-day moving average ) with an up candle. We need a consistent move above this level to continue the bullish scenario testing $14.03 ( 200 dma ).

The stock had a significant bullish momentum on Friday and now back above $7.58. The bias is bullish in nearest term and the major bullish scenario remains intact. The technical chart above shows this is just the beginning of the rally for Motorola as %K line is just in the mid way after it crossed on top of %D line early this week. Resistance is now $7.75, which was Friday’s high of the day. Once MOT breaks through this resistance area, we should see an increase in volume as the stock moves higher. Keep a close eye on the stock for the follow through move on Monday.

I've been looking at GNBT for a possible breakout candidate. And the chart above of the stock was one that I analyzed last week. From my point of view, there are solid and consistent buyers here. GNBT's chart suggest that increased buy side activity could push share prices to much higher levels. The stock has pulled back to support on low volume, generally this represents a good buying opportunity. The short-term outlook for GNBT appears positive. The stock could touch an upside target of $.60 in the medium term. Existing holders could remain invested. The bias is bullish in nearest term. A close above $.491 (200-day moving average ) would impart bullishness and would help the stock move to the $.58-$.60 band. There is a lot of upside potential in GNBT, so keep watching for the breakout move.

Stock Picks for Friday August 27

Looking at the technical daily chart there is a possibility of a drop to 25-25.55. This view would be valid if the stock fails to move past the resistance zone at $29.40. A close above this level would have positive implications and propel the stock into the next leg of the bullish trend. I continue to be bullish on the company. Remain invested with a stop-loss at $26.75.

The near-term trend is bearish and ERTS faces a strong resistance at $15.63 ( 50-dma ). A close above this level is a pre-requisite for the reversal of the bearish trend. Technically, the daily chart shows a possible new rally as K line has crossed on top over D line again while ROC is still at oversold level. However, it is better to wait and see if the stock can break above its 50-day moving average.

INTC is off over 25% from its April high and recently posted some unbelievable financial numbers. Looking at the technical chart the stochastics are deeply oversold here, suggesting a bounce higher could be coming in the near-term. Honestly, I think most traders are asleep, but as soon as they wake-up, Intel could bounce BIG! Keep INTC in your radar.

Stock Picks for Thursday August 26

Let's take a look at MOT and see if the stock is worth buying.

- The technical chart shows the stock is on a bull market as the stock is trading above both the 50-day and 200-day moving average.
- The 50-day moving average in mid of August has crossed on top over 200-day moving average to form Golden Cross
- KD line crossing upward
- Institutions have been buying the stock in the last quarter
- RSI shows the stock may be ready for a rebound

The stock has been one of the strongest stocks the past month as it has traded from $6.36 in July, up to $8.18 in mid-August. The stock has pulled back to the $7.50 range and seems to be setting up for another upside move. I'm a buyer of MOT once it breaks $7.58.

GIGM broke out today, and I am looking for a continuation move on Thursday. Heavy volume came in as GIGM broke through its resistance level of $2.05. From the technical chart it looks like GIGM is ready for another rally as %K line is on top of %D line indicating buy signal. In addition, the stock is back above 50-day moving average again, another positive sign.

After a solid breakout on rising volume GNBT has pulled back to support near $.40 and should set up for its next upside move. The stock might trade in a tight range in the next sessions, but I will continue to watch in case it makes a move. The resistance level stays at $.491. Keep watching GNTB for the next few trading sessions.

Stock Picks for Tuesday August 24

BAC - From a technical standpoint, there are some signs of a possible bounce here due to the oversold indicators and some positive divergences, which often leads to short covering. Let’s see whether the stock can gather enough momentum to break through $13.10.

WCRX broke out on huge volume. The stock closed up $1.30 today and looks poised to make another move on Tuesday. If WCRX breaks through today’s high of $29.81, I am a buyer of the stock. The technical chart above shows the stock is on a strong bull market as the stock is trading above 50-day and 200-day moving with both moving average pointing upwards. I will watch the stock closely on Tuesday and buy once it breaks through resistance.

MU - The stock had a nice move, closing the day at $7.36 . MU seems to want to bounce from lows and the increased volume shows there were buyers in the stock. I'm looking to buy the stock above today’s high of $7.45 and we could see a nice quick pop above the $7.61 price level. Let's keep an eye on MU as i think momentum will pick up.

I first alerted you on GNBT on August 17th when it was trading at $.037, quickly the next day we saw gains of more than 10% and the stock finished the day at $.4189. I continued to say the gains would continue and in fact today GNBT gained another 10%. I have been right on the money so far with GNBT. Honestly, looking at the technical chart this looks to be just the beginning of GNBT's run and I’m extremely confident that the gains will continue! The volume was tremendous, with more than 6.4 Million of shares traded in a single day, compared with a normal average of less than 1. 5 M shares a day. The stock looks like it can run up to the $.59-$.60 level. Make sure to keep an eye on this stock on Tuesday.

Hot stocks for next week

INTU broke resistance today, hitting a new 52-week high. Today's high of $44.85 is resistance for the continuation move. At this stage, the stock is too extended for additional positions, and is in the overbought zone. I really like the chart but at this level I would wait for a pull back before putting any cash to work. Keep the stock on your radar.

Sirius Satelite continues to hold $.95 but trade in a narrow range. Shareholders are probably getting frustrated because the stock doesn't move higher, however the short term uptrend line still intact. As long as the stock trades above this short-term support, investors can hold it with stop-loss at $.95. SIRI is a great company and I plan to buy the stock on a close over $1.02.

MRVL - The stock had a nice breakout and I am looking for it to continue next week. I am buying MRVL once it breaks above today’s high of $16.73 on the continuation move.

GNBT was another winner for my readers this week. The markets are continuing to pullback, but that didn't stop the stock from posting a gain of around 20% this week. Last time I alerted you to this stock we saw gains in excess of 10% ! And now, because the stock had a nice and healthy pullback, it could be a great time to score big with it again. Look at GNTB's wonderful chart ! Things are now beginning to turn in favor of Bulls. The stock could breakout again at any moment! Just look at the way it broke out of $.40 on strong volume! The trend is definitely your friend here. The MACD also confirms the recent jump and RSI shows that there's more upside to come. GNBT should be watched closely, it could pay off big if it shoots up from its current level. Keep a close eye on GNBT because once it does move, it should be a good one.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTIC) - Waiting to buy when the stock closes above it's 50 day moving average located at $0.41. Until then, I remain on the sidelines.

Gold Stocks to Watch tomorrow

GSS - The stock was volatile and indecisive during the trading session today, but closed slightly higher at 4.63. The bias is neutral in nearest term but as long as price move above the major moving averages, the pressure still more to the upside. I think I will stand aside for now as the direction of the stock is unclear. The immediate support is at $4.50. On the upside, 4.91 region remains potential bullish target especially if the price is able to break above 4.77 area (June highs).

VGZ might face a period of sideways action here while it consolidates the gains booked in the last trading sessions. The stock will face short to medium term resistance at $2. Once this level is crossed with good volumes, the stock can go to $2.5.

ABX is still facing resistance around $46 area, however the technical chart still showing bullish bias wiht MACD indicating that the current short term price trend is very bullish. In addition, the technical indicator OBV is increasing, indicating accumulation of shares in the market. A break above $46 could trigger further upside momentum testing $47.25.

GG - If the stock breaks through Thursday’s high of $42.68, I will enter for a trade.

Other stocks to watch tomorrow

Shares of Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTIC) got a nice rebound on Monday and resistance level is $.415. Support level is $.358. I want to go long if stock break over $.415.

I continue to watch Generex Biotechnology Corporation (NASDAQ:GNBT) because the volume is still large so it could potentially break out again at any moment.

Shares of Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI) continues to trade in a tight range between $.96 - $1.02. I will be buying SIRI on any major pullback. A close above $1.10 would be bullish for the long term.

Shares of Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOMX) failed to close over the 10 day moving average again located at $3.68. A close over this level would be bullish and I'd look for SOMX to test the 50-day moving average at $3.87. When the stock breaks above this level, I plan to buy the stock.

Hot stocks to watch tomorrow

X made a great move today and was with an increase in volume, which shows us there are buyers in the stock. The resistance level for the stock is $50.35 ( 200-day moving average ), but don’t be surprised to see some additional resistance at the $50.59, which was the high of the day. The stock is probably back to uptrend and with KD rising we could see possible rally coming for the stock. Let's keep an eye on X as i think momentum will pick up.

Shares of Hemispherx Biopharma Inc. surged 13% to 0.543 cents per share after the company said Wednesday that it won a $188 million judgment in a U.S. court against JCI Ltd., a South African investment conglomerate. Earlier this month I projected an upside coming for the stock. From a technical standpoint, the stock is now showing a tremenous strength with KD rising and MACD above 0. Now, with the stock back above 50-day moving average we may see more up side with MACD also rising. This kind of news can give a stock a 1-3 day rally. I'll be watching the stock again on Thursday, and will be buying once it breaks $.65.

If you paid attention to yesterday's alert and got into GNBT at the opening bell, congratulations !!! My tip was great !!! Now that you are aware of GNBT, I suggest that you keep it on your radar. The stock broke out today on heavy volume. If this chart does what is supposed to do, GNBT will be going higher in the days to come. Great volume and a 10% gain on the day makes the stock a clear and easy winner. From a technical perspective, the stock is now in a new uptrend with share price above 20 and 50-daily moving averages. Let's see if tomorrow the stock will confirm the breakout. Short-term investors can buy with a stop at $0.373 and long-term investors can hold with a stop at $0.355. Let's keep an eye on her as i think momentum will pick up.

Stock Picks for Wednesday August 18

The stock continued its bullish momentum today, gaining more than 1% to $37.76 with 2 million shares traded. Looking at the technical chart above we can see price break above the trend line resistance indicating potential bullishness targeting $40 in nearest term. The immediate support is now at $37.21. Only a break below that area could trigger further bearish pressure, testing the minor trendline support at $35.96 area but as long as price move inside the bullish channel we are still in upside phase.

Shares of Pacific Ethanol soared 38.46% to 72 cents per share following the company's second-quarter earnings announcement Monday evening. The company posted $107.8 million or $1.43 per share in net income for the three months ended June 30, compared to a loss of -$28.2 million or -49 cents per share in the same period last year. The Sacramento-based firm recorded a $119.4 million non-cash gain tied to production subsidiaries' emergence from bankruptcy, and net sales increased by 9.5% to $76.6 million. PEIX is now worth watching on Wednesday and a close above $.85 would be very bullish. The technical chart above shows bullish signal as %K line is now on top of %D line and MACD is on top of zero. There could be some profit taking as the stock seems to rise too quickly in a short time. However, now that PEIX's shares are above the 50-day moving average, we should see the trend continue to be upward.

The technical daily chart looks positive as 20-day moving average has just crossed on top of 50-day moving average. In addition, the stock broke falling wedge resistance and upside volume is outpacing downside volume. Watch $.40 for a breakout. Institutions have been loading up shares of GNBT in the last quarter, buying total of 2 million shares.

Stock Picks for Tuesday August 17

Shares of Intel rose 32 cents, or 1.67%, in Monday's session, closing at $19.47. The technical daily chart shows the stock bounced back as ROC indicator was at oversold level. In adidition, the stochastics is showing a bottom and rebound is likely going to happen. I will continue to watch INTCand will buy the stock when it breaks Monday’s high of $19.56.

RIMM - Trendline support has been broken on the daily chart at $51.68 with the next target at $47.42. I would exit longs at this time. An aggressive trader may want to short RIMM here. Technically, the stock is in a bearish mode with MACD below signal line and the price below both 50 and 200-day moving averages.

The stock was up on Monday and I am keeping it on the list for Tuesday. MOT has been strong, which leads me to believe that there are buyers and we could see another up move soon. I'm looking to buy the stock above Monday’s high of $7.86.

CTIC had a nice move on Monday with 4.45 million shares traded. The stock seems to want to bounce from lows but once again failed to close above its 50-day moving average at $.408. I am looking to buy CTIC above Monday’s high of $.415. The RSI and MACD indicators are still bearish, though it started to display the ease of selling pressure at this level. Watch this stock closely on Tuesday because it has the potential for a nice breakout.

Stock Picks for Monday August 16

BAC - The bearish momentum was paused on Friday. The bias is now neutral in nearest term but the main scenario remains to the downside. Only a consistent break above $13.30 on a close basis could trigger further upside momentum but as long as price move below this level the bearish scenario should remain intact.

The stock continued its bullish momentum today closing at 28.39 in a weak market. The bias remains bullish in nearest term testing 29.50 region. From a technical perspective, the stock still in an upside correction phase after the failure to consistently move below 26.92 support area. If the stock can break resistance, and the market gains some strength, we should see a solid upside move in LVS.

As you can see on my technical chart above, SIRI is moving inside a rectangle area indicating consolidation after significant bullishr momentum. The stock needs to break from the range area to see clearer direction. A break above 1.10 could trigger further bullish momentum targeting 1.25 region, while a break below 0.88/0.89 could change the trend considerably, but this is not likely to happen. CCI is heading up again on chart suggesting potential upside rebound. Keep an eye on SIRI next week.

NVDA was up on Friday, after the company released good earnings. The stock was up $.43 on 2x normal daily volume, as it hit a high of $9.52. I will be watching NVDA on Monday for a follow through move, using Friday’s high as resistance. The bias is bullish in nearest term. There is a lot of upside room in this stock, so watch it closely.
